Changing the color of leather is considered a more advanced restoration project as compared to restoring your leather to it's original color. The amount of dye required to change the color of your leather depends on many factors including, the overall current condition of your leather, the absorbency of your leather, and the overall contrast between the current color and the NEW color. "up shading" a darker color to a lighter color will require MORE dye product as compared to "down shading" from a light color to a darker color as you will need to apply more coats to fully cover the darker color. Changing color to Reds, Blues, or Greens will likely require more coats of dye as these colors tend to have a natural translucent character. The amount of dye we recommend in this Easy Order guide is an estimation based on the majority of the most common cases and scenarios, your situation may vary and you may require MORE dye than what we recommend here.

Have you sent us your swatch, or will you be sending your swatch after you place your order?

There may be a factory-supplied swatch stitched into the frame under a cushion that you might be able to snip a sample from, or if your cushions are removable and have a zipper, open the cushion and pull out the sponge and turn the cushion cover inside out, there may be some excess leather around the inner seam you may be able to snip a small sample from, or if you turn the couch/chair over, there will be a dust cloth stapled into place on the bottom. If you remove a few of the staples and pull that dust cloth aside, you should see some excess leather from where the factory had stretched the leather over the frame and stapled it into place. Snip a small sample from there.

Even if you can obtain a "paint store sample card/chip" from your local Home Depot, Benjamin Moore, or Sherwin Williams paint department with a color that is a good match, send that.
